About.. [me]
Born and raised in Suriname—South America—I was shaped by a mix of cultures and conversations that taught me to see through a broader lens. I’ve come to understand space more deeply through the works of artists like Hiroshi Sugimoto and designers and architects such as Thomas Heatherwick, Petra Blaisse, and Carlo Scarpa.
My design process often begins with something oddly specific—a historic detail, an element in nature, a feeling I can’t let go of. I tend to notice unconventional ideas and follow those threads until they take form. My human-centered work often manifests as something honest and quietly understated—in shape, texture, and tone.
Alongside the functional and environmentally conscious aspects, design, for me, is a way to make sense of space, to stay present, and maybe even help others feel a little more grounded in the places they inhabit.
